About me

I am a graduate student in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania. My area of interest is the philosophy and history of psychology. I focus on theories of emotions, especially emotional consciousness and its causes and effects. My primary doctoral advisor is Gary Hatfield.

Following the completion of my dissertation I will be taking up a lectureship in the University of Pennsylvania's Critical Writing Program.

I'm a native of Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to arriving in Philadelphia I earned a Master of Philosophy degree from the Department of Cognitive Science at Macquarie University, under the supervision of John Sutton. I also hold a bachelor of arts with first class honours from the Australian Catholic University.

On this website you can read up on my various research projects and the courses I have taught or am teaching. The most recent version of my curriculum vitae is available by clicking here or on the link in the navigation bar.

At present I'm a member of the following research societies:

Outside of academic life, you can find me practicing my turntablism (I'm a graduate of Scratch Academy Philadelphia's DJ Certification Program), cooking, or watching rugby (New Zealand's national religion). I also dabble in graphic design and photography.
